Job title Head of Faith & Policy
 Closing date 28th September 2013
Interview date To be arranged for October 2013
 Salary     Up to £45,000
Job description In this exciting and pivotal role, you will have the scope to use your policy skills and experience to express your Christian Faith in shaping our faith and policy strategy for the future.

There is far more to Mothers’ Union that you might imagine. Guided by strong Christian values, we are an exciting and growing grassroots organisation with over 4 million members in 83 countries bringing Christ inspired humanitarian response to the needs of families worldwide. It is a goal that we actively pursue through our faith, programme work, advocacy and policy campaigns.

As Head of Faith & Policy, you will lead on putting in place an effective strategy that not only develops our faith but that we continue to ensure that we are informed and engaged in the current social policy issues that are relevant to our mission. The strength of our Bye Buy Childhood Campaign that raised awareness of the increasing levels of marketing and sexual imagery aimed at, and accessible to children has already brought about change in both industry and Government and has also generated an amazing response from the general public.

The role is twofold - to ensure that our work continues to be firmly rooted in the Christian faith and is underpinned by the Christian values and Biblical traditions that take shape, and are expressed through, the distinct spiritual ethos of Mothers’ Union. Working with the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for identifying the needs of our members at every level for material on theology, faith, Christian ethics and pastoral matters for group or individual use and to produce or commission material to meet these needs.

The other one, which is central to Mothers’ Union’s objectives, is to campaign for and promote, societal conditions that ensure stable family life and the protection of children, underpinning all our work in prayer.

A committed Christian, you will understand the importance faith plays in our work and will have an understanding of the wide spectrum of viewpoints of the Christian faith and extensive demonstrable experience of working within a social policy, campaigns or advocacy field.

You will be able to work confidently with various stakeholders and will be a seasoned manger, with the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team as you plan and manage the campaigning and advocacy work, keeping a well- informed perspective of world issues impacting upon Mothers’ Union.
